Social Justice issue: Disability rights

Design Idea:

The idea is to add a visual narrative to the campaign flyer. Flyers are a type of  communication media which only get a glance worth of attention span and no special viewing arrangement which media like movies, television, books, newspapers, etc. enjoy. Hence the flyer needs to catch attention in a glance and also be short enough to keep the viewer engaged. The aim is having a colorful comic with minimal text but expressive backgrounds and situations to evoke curiosity in the viewer and hence motivating them to have a look and then provide the necessary information of the flyer below the comic.

Target Audience: Disabled college students.

Learning goals: Publicity of the Non-Profit organization, Disability rights awareness & Providing self-help information for college going disabled population.

Learning theories: Script theory (Schank R.): according to this theory memory is episodic and based around personal experiences, the reason behind having a disabled character facing everyday problems in the flyer is to generate interest through triggering personal experience recall and hence targeting the episodic memory of especially the target audience which consists of disabled college students. Information Pickup theory (Gibson J.): The perception of the user is of utmost importance for the flyer, hence it is designed based on this theory and tries to achieve user attention through stimulus perception based on color, texture and other visual factors.
